Enes Kanter, Career Night in Tough Loss

Enes Kanter is the first Knick player in over 35+ years to get 20+ points and 20+ rebounds off of the bench. It is simple to say that he had easily one of the best games in his current career and should give anyone a reason to put him back onto the starting line up.

In the video of highlights from Enes Kanter is shows that the man played with a lot of heart while coming off the bench. It should be noted the Enes Kanter was not happy coming off the bench for the Knicks as all of last year he started. Due to a new coach in David Fizdale he stated many times that every player has to earn their starting spot. With this mindset it lead to the president of Kanter coming off the bench. Well it is easy to say in this exhibition that he clearly does not want to keep coming off the bench.

Enes Kanter scored in total of 23 points, 24 rebounds, and even had 7 assists. In total he had the best plus/minus stats for the whole entire team. In the highlight tape it shows that he is a force to be messed with in the paint. He put his whole body into almost every single basket he scored, and if he missed he threw himself back up their trying to grab the rebound and score again. The 7 assists in the game do not clearly speak enough for what he did finding in the toughest ways to pass to the open teammate for an easy score. Finally the 24 rebounds is insane, sure some were easy rebounds to get defensively but not even all of them were, and the offensive ones were just plain dominate from him. It is easy to say that this man has showed he deserved to get the starting spot back as well as becoming a early contender for an All Star.

Top 5 Reasons of Why The Knicks Are Fine Right Now

  1. Coming Back From a Disappointing Last Year                                                                  The New York Knicks yet though they are having a bad season to begin with it, always remember this is beginning and will be a learning process. The team itself is now under a new coach with many new players trying figure out how to cliche together off last years terrible season
  2. The Rookies                                                                                                                              The new and young talent has shown so far in their pre-season games to the beginning of the regular season that they have a lot to offer to the team. With rookies such as Kevin Knox doing well when he was healthy, Mitchell Robinson being a key role off the bench for defensive, and the future offensive star in Alonzo Tier putting up many great games recently. They all are young and with this they can learn and strive to be better.
  3. The Injuries Will Heal                                                                                                           The New York Knick All Star Kristaps Porzingiz will hopefully be making his recovery by sometime in March. Yes this is far away but by then he can at least see the court and start to get back to where he was before the ACL Tear by the time next season starts. Kevin Knox is on the short term injury list but still is young so this gives him time to realize not every night you need to play as hard as possible. With both of these players on the court in a long future the team will be locked in gear.
  4. The Current Starters                                                                                                                The starters right now for the team range due to being replaced in the line up, besides three men. Tim Hardaway Jr. who is averaging 25+ points per game. Enes Kanter who is an offensive nightmare for teams to try to grab a rebound over him. Finally Frank Nlitikina who is a recent draft pick (2017) who is finally showing his NBA talents on offense against the best team in the league (Warriors) where he scored a career high in 17 points as a third option. Overall the talent we currently have is great to manage and will be getting better due to them not being in their prime yet.
  5. Finally the Scores                                                                                                                 Out of all the games so far played this season, and mind you with no all star in Kristaps Porzingiz playing the Knicks keep all games super close. Overall their point differential is one of the best in the league with it being negative and this because the players all are playing with their heart trying to win. The team itself may be almost a brand new roster with a new coach but every night they go out to play for the same loving fans who support them through the heartbreaks in the games we lose by less then 3 points.

What Haters Say to Knicks Fans

Image result for knicks vs celtics

A big majority of NBA sports fan say that the Knicks will never be the highlight of the east. Even with young and up incoming talent many people will argue the fact that the team will never be good enough in it current self to compete at high levels. This fact is straight up wrong!

According to the source of Bleacher Report and one of their recent articles on the New York Knicks it states. “Knicks Lack Talent to Compete in East Without Porzingis, Knox”, this is wrong on the level of how the Knicks have been producing recently. Yes they are now 1-2 but those games were so much more then some numbers. In the first game they won by a staggering 21 points. The other two games they lost by 3 points and 2 points, mind the fact that they held the Celtics down and almost came back on them without both Knox and Kanter. The real reason why this source or fact is completely wrong goes on to the fact that the team is young mainly and inexperienced with a lot potential for them. As well as the fact that the star player for the Knicks has been out and will continue to be out until his recovery is complete. With these main two sources by the time things shape up next year with the All Star Porzingiz returning and the young talent improving to that talent there will be no stopping the Knicks.

To state that the Knicks cannot compete without adding anyone to their current roster is wrong. The Knicks as highlighted above had held this with 3 great games even if they lost two. To conculde the Knicks do not currently lack talent right now and if they do, give them a year and they have the chance to be on top.

The Start of Something Great

2019-2020 NBA season has finally begun and there is so far nothing but clear skies for the New York Knicks. On the opening night for the team they played The Atlanta Hawks in Madison Square Garden, the home of the Knicks. The team itself had an outstanding game against the hawks winning 126-105. A 25 point blowout victory for the Knicks and a great way to start the season.

During the game the Knicks showed up in every aspect. From the new starting 5 all the way down to the bench filled with newly drafted players. This type of win is something new for the Knicks who last year finished not even in the playoff picture, and with many injuries. Well we are here now that shows that even from terrible season the team can pick up it’s feet and start over. The team had picked up 3 amazing  rookie players, Kevin Knox a rookie who had a pretty average game only scoring 8 points. Mitchell Robinson who is a defensive monster only played a little impact during the game but made shots difficult to hit. Finally we have the undrafted rookie who scored 11 points on 4-5 shooting and having a few massive plays for the team. Overall the newly accuired players have plenty to grow this season and will only be getting better.

How the Knicks really won the game was through the star plays of Tim Hardaway Jr. who had a breakout second quarter. He scored 20 points in the quarter as well as raking up many assists to open big man Enes Kanter who could dunk on anyone on the court it seemed. In the second quarter the Knicks set a new franchise high in points in a quarter to 49 points. At the end of the first half the team was up by 25 points and had a clearly easier second half while the Hawks struggled to score against any Knick player. To finish, this was a great win for the Knicks and shows how ready they are for the season just after one game.

The Horrific 2016 Season of The New York Knicks

After signing this previous defensive player of the year, the New York Knicks started with a tornado of mistakes in the franchise. The calm before the storm was nice with the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony had shown he was still a star player for the franchise while the 2015 number 4 draft pick was showing promises of star potential (Kristaps Porzingis). The team was now signing a NBA veterans such as Derrick Rose, Courtney Lee, and Joakim Noah. All these guys were great stars at one point. Rose was the leagues MVP in 2011 but later suffered a horrific ACL tear, Courtney Lee was a front runner in being one of the best catch and shoot three point makers, and finally Noah was the best defensive player in the league a few years before. The team itself had the potential to be a dynasty, or even just win a championship, but with this team making the playoffs eventually became their dream.

Oh, how did this go so wrong? Well let’s start with the team itself, they got a brand new hall of famer coach Jeff Hornasck who loved a fast pace game style called 7 second offence. This was good to have a coach who knew how to keep up in the modern day of the NBA with fast offence and good 3 point shooting. The team also had a general manager who was an NBA player, coach and everything else between. Phil Jackson the GM helped his teams win multiple championships with 11 rings under his belt, he decided after coaching the Lakers it was time to try something different so he got signed as the Knicks GM. Him being him as the new GM felt like he had a say in every aspect of the team on an off the court. His main goal as GM was to sign as many good players that would fit on this team and help them win a championship. Phil targeted those players who were great previous players that were in his eyes to be all star caliber even after a terrible injury and age starting to play a role. He decided to pick them up because they would fit perfectly into the game plan he a had set up with a triangle offensive or where only 3 players would be mainly in control of the pace of the game. These players in his eyes were going to be Carmelo Anthony as the main scorer like he always has been and averaging over 20 points a game every season of his career up until this year. The second was Derrick Rose the former MVP who Phil thought that he had fully recovered from his injuries and would always be back in his prime self. Joahkim Noah was the final piece of the offense while he wasn’t ever known for offense, Phil thought he could change that.

So how did it actually start to go wrong? Well with everything above you may have been able to put together the puzzle. Carmelo Anthony was the only star of the team and averaged 23.4 points per game because he has done what he always did and “ball hog”. With Derrick Rose he was signed one a 1 year 25.6 million dollar deal but was out for most of the season due to injuries and when he was in game there was only a few games where he was actually a good second option. Joahkim Noah, I swear his season high for that year was like 12 points maybe. He was good defensively until one day he got injuried as well as Rose and lead to him not knowing how to properly recover. Noah was signed on a 4 year $72 million dollar contract and the man has played in less then 60 games for the team over the course of 2 years with a total of 120 missed games due to injury or drug abuse. The team also was in constant argument of the style of game plan to play. It lead to the point where the GM and star player actually got into verbal arguments in conference rooms (per sources).

The 2016 New York Knicks were favored to be a top contender in the easy Eastern Conference but ended up finished the season with a 31-51 record not even making playoffs. The aftermath of this huge disappointment resulted in star player Carmelo Anthony demanding a trade due to problems with Phil Jackson. Phil later then quit as the Knicks GM. Noah is now currently being bought out of his current contract with the Knicks due to the fact that the team can make more room for future potential with signing a big name free agent next summer. Derrick Rose continues to get injured but plays a smaller role off the bench for the Minnesota Timberwolfs. While the only good thing coming out of this was releasing the Knicks needed to rebuild their team with a new leader in Kristaps Porzingis. To state that this team was a failure is an understatement. This team was an abomination to the legacy of the Knicks.

How To Follow The New York Knicks

nykThe best way to follow this team is watching them play live. The way to access or view the game can be done through a variety of ways. The best way is sadly if you live in New York and have spectrum cable/TV because including in most packages there is the main source of televised games on MSG Network. They cover almost every single Knicks game and when they don’t they do it because you can find it nationally televised, like on networks such as ABC, TNT, ESPN, or NBA TV.

If you don’t have cable (trust me I don’t blame for saving your money), you can watch the games with the NBA league pass. The bad part about this is it will run up $100 to watch your team and that is only if you selected one team. There is the $150 option to watch all live NBA games (I recommend) or $200 to watch it all games with no commercials. With these little bit of hefty fees, there are payment options to spend it over months (with interest) or just pay at once. This is probably the best way to watch the Knicks or NBA because the pass lasts all season long and you indefinitely watch over hundreds of games.

If you want to watch the games the cheapest way really go to a friends house or something and smooch off them. There are also bars and restaurants who probably wouldn’t mind turning on the game either. In the end if these still cannot be options for you there is no harm in watching highlights on YouTube as well or on other sources such as bleacher report.

The best way to way to keep up with all other Knicks or NBA news, use these sites to know what is really going on with every level. From game play decisions and office moves with the team there is no harm done in seeing the NBA drama live and reported on.

The Future Star of The New York Knicks

Before starting this blog post I would like to tell you the reader a little about myself. I am a fanatic NBA fan of any kind, I follow the New York Knicks in any subject that has them in the title just so I can always be informed. I get my information from reliable sources and will link the main ones I use. I’ve been following the NBA for 8 or more years and looked through a lot of history to catch up on the years that I didn’t follow it. Let me put it this way I’d have a degree in sports history if they offered it at any college. This blog post will be semi-professional and will be easy to understand for any person and peak interest in sports fans, thank you for reading. Now here is my blog on the team that I will be keeping up with.

In sporting news the New York Knicks have been almost completely off the radar for the 2018 off season. With little to no player additions or drops the team itself is ready to be playing in the 2018-2019 with the signing of a star small forward ready to lead the team in the absence of Kristaps Prozingiz (aka KP). The signing of the rookie out of The University of Kentucky, Kevin Knox has already built a nice reputation for the New York Knicks impressing everyone around the NBA summer league scoring an average of 20.3 points per game. As well himself has posted all over social media with his ambitions for the Knicks calming to be the rookie of year this coming season and declaring to be the best small forward of the 2018 NBA draft class. Seeing what this young beast of a man could do in the summer league was astonishing being able to be a key wing player as well as the star himself when he took over many of the games. The real question is, will this man live up to the hype he is putting on himself or will he be bust?

Reasons for why we should be trusting this process. Number 1: He is new and was a star player in his one and only year in college averaging around 20 points per game. Number 2: The summer league with the NBA completed with Kevin Knox being one of the top players and making the 1st All Star Team as a forward. Number 3: Knox’s drive as a player with a high of an ambition has been carried out before, too name the best top 3 are as followed. Micheal Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Lebron James. These 3 are some if not basketballs best players in history and to carry the same drive as these well theres nothing wrong with going out on the court every night and trying to display you are the best. Number 4: The Knicks have obtained a new head coach who has been working hard with Kevin and leading him to the role he has to be in till the injured New York Knick All Star Kristaps Porzingiz returns. This works actually to perfectly as in the fact that Knox can see what a new coach can do for a team with him trying to lead it as well.

Reasons to not trust the process and hopes of this young ball player. Number 1: The kid hasn’t even fully experienced the real stars of the NBA. Knox had played in a summer league where you can play your first 2 seasons as a player and if you are good enough or choose not to you don’t have to play a second summer league. Number 2: Knox came right out of college and will be playing against men who are 5x or more as good then any college players he has ever seen. There is a reason why rookie stats are never as good as players in their prime stats and that is the lack of experience. Number 3: This one is a hit or miss and a big hopeful miss for Knick fans and that is injury. According to stats and history out of all 60 NBA players that join the league around 10-15 will most likely get injured. A severe injury can lead to a life time long of complications. Number 4: A bust, with everything on top of this list will lead to a bust in a player. A bust is a player who has the potential to be the best but will collapse under pressure or worse and never be as good as the fans and players hope.

Kevin Knox who is 18 years old, played 1 year at Kentucky University, drafted as the 9th overall pick to the New York Knicks in the NBA draft has a lot to live up to as a player. Will he live up to the hype he portrays? Or will he fall just like so many other lottery pick players have? In conclusion the Knicks have all their eggs in one basket, all they can do is hope the doesn’t drop them, with him leading the way to a bright future.
