Before starting this blog post I would like to tell you the reader a little about myself. I am a fanatic NBA fan of any kind, I follow the New York Knicks in any subject that has them in the title just so I can always be informed. I get my information from reliable sources and will link the main ones I use. I’ve been following the NBA for 8 or more years and looked through a lot of history to catch up on the years that I didn’t follow it. Let me put it this way I’d have a degree in sports history if they offered it at any college. This blog post will be semi-professional and will be easy to understand for any person and peak interest in sports fans, thank you for reading. Now here is my blog on the team that I will be keeping up with.
In sporting news the New York Knicks have been almost completely off the radar for the 2018 off season. With little to no player additions or drops the team itself is ready to be playing in the 2018-2019 with the signing of a star small forward ready to lead the team in the absence of Kristaps Prozingiz (aka KP). The signing of the rookie out of The University of Kentucky, Kevin Knox has already built a nice reputation for the New York Knicks impressing everyone around the NBA summer league scoring an average of 20.3 points per game. As well himself has posted all over social media with his ambitions for the Knicks calming to be the rookie of year this coming season and declaring to be the best small forward of the 2018 NBA draft class. Seeing what this young beast of a man could do in the summer league was astonishing being able to be a key wing player as well as the star himself when he took over many of the games. The real question is, will this man live up to the hype he is putting on himself or will he be bust?
Reasons for why we should be trusting this process. Number 1: He is new and was a star player in his one and only year in college averaging around 20 points per game. Number 2: The summer league with the NBA completed with Kevin Knox being one of the top players and making the 1st All Star Team as a forward. Number 3: Knox’s drive as a player with a high of an ambition has been carried out before, too name the best top 3 are as followed. Micheal Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Lebron James. These 3 are some if not basketballs best players in history and to carry the same drive as these well theres nothing wrong with going out on the court every night and trying to display you are the best. Number 4: The Knicks have obtained a new head coach who has been working hard with Kevin and leading him to the role he has to be in till the injured New York Knick All Star Kristaps Porzingiz returns. This works actually to perfectly as in the fact that Knox can see what a new coach can do for a team with him trying to lead it as well.
Reasons to not trust the process and hopes of this young ball player. Number 1: The kid hasn’t even fully experienced the real stars of the NBA. Knox had played in a summer league where you can play your first 2 seasons as a player and if you are good enough or choose not to you don’t have to play a second summer league. Number 2: Knox came right out of college and will be playing against men who are 5x or more as good then any college players he has ever seen. There is a reason why rookie stats are never as good as players in their prime stats and that is the lack of experience. Number 3: This one is a hit or miss and a big hopeful miss for Knick fans and that is injury. According to stats and history out of all 60 NBA players that join the league around 10-15 will most likely get injured. A severe injury can lead to a life time long of complications. Number 4: A bust, with everything on top of this list will lead to a bust in a player. A bust is a player who has the potential to be the best but will collapse under pressure or worse and never be as good as the fans and players hope.
Kevin Knox who is 18 years old, played 1 year at Kentucky University, drafted as the 9th overall pick to the New York Knicks in the NBA draft has a lot to live up to as a player. Will he live up to the hype he portrays? Or will he fall just like so many other lottery pick players have? In conclusion the Knicks have all their eggs in one basket, all they can do is hope the doesn’t drop them, with him leading the way to a bright future.
